Gravitational wave echoes search with combs

چکیده

Gravitational wave echoes may provide a smoking gun signal for new physics in the immediate vicinity of black holes. As quasiperiodic time, are characterized by nearly constant time delay, and its precise measurement can help reveal Planck-scale deviation outside would-be horizon. Different search methods have been developed this signal, while searches suffer from large theoretical uncertainties echo waveform associated with near-horizon physics. On other hand, coherent combination number pulses gives rise to generic narrow resonance structure amplitude frequency. This pattern sets complementary target echoes, delay is inversely related average spacing. A uniform comb has proposed look rather model-independent way. In paper, we develop Bayesian algorithm based on combs, where phase-marginalized likelihood plays an essential role. The validated injections detector noise Advanced LIGO. Gravitational Wave Burst Search

We will prepare for, carry out, and report on a search for burst-like events of gravitational wave origin in data to be collected in an Engineering Run that will have coincident data from operating interferometers at both Hanford and Livingston (hereinafter referred to as the Science Analysis Challenge or SAC). By “burst-like events” (hereinafter “bursts”) we refer in the most general sense to ...

I . Search for Light Echoes

We have used FORS1 at the ESO VLT to search for light echoes in imaging polarimetry from four historical supernovæ in the face-on nearby spiral galaxy M83 (NGC 5236). No echoes were detected around our targets (SN 1923A, SN 1945B, SN 1950B and SN 1957D). This implies that the interstellar medium in their environs is rather tenuous (a few particles per cm), possibly as a result of previous super...

Methods for multi-detector burst gravitational wave search

In this paper, a review of methods of data exchange and multi-detector analysis is given. Details of data exchange parameters will also be discussed. We focus on the coherent network search which turns out to be a fundamental step towards the overcoming of ambiguity in parameter estimation of a gravitational wave in the low signal-to-noise ratio regime. Search for gravitational-wave bursts from soft gamma repeaters.

We present a LIGO search for short-duration gravitational waves (GWs) associated with soft gamma ray repeater (SGR) bursts. This is the first search sensitive to neutron star f modes, usually considered the most efficient GW emitting modes. We find no evidence of GWs associated with any SGR burst in a sample consisting of the 27 Dec. 2004 giant flare from SGR 1806-20 and 190 lesser events from ...
